About the Show
Walk me to the Corner, is an evening to discover and celebrate the vast works of Cranbrook's own legendary Brent Carver. Born and raised in Cranbrook, Brent got his start in the Mount Baker theatre department under the tutelage of Paul Kershaw. He developed a lifelong passion for the performing arts, advancing to the world stage and going on to win a Tony award on Broadway, to become a regular lead performer at the Stratford Festival, to lead his own TV series on CBC television and to ultimately win Canada's highest honour in the performing arts: the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards.
On October 21, Key City Theatre's gallery will be filled with the archives, memorabilia, scripts, photos, posters, remembrances and awards that were collected over Brent's decades long career. The evening will open with a reception where patrons can browse at their leisure, followed by an onstage presentation led by two of Brent's contemporaries, Jim Cameron and Barry Coulter. Jim and Barry will guide us through a presentation rich with archival footage of Brent's performances, personal stories from some of his co-stars throughout the years, and a look at his life here in Cranbrook, where it all started.
This evening promises to be a moving, personal, and joyful celebration of a real local artist.
