Young Masters of classical virtuosity!
Nature's Folk Songs
About Nicolas Ellis & Agora Quartet
The exceptionally talented young musicians of the Agora String Quartet will be accompanied by the highly accomplished, multi-award-winning and equally young pianist and conductor Nicolas Ellis in a vibrant and energetic concert of works inspired by folk traditions and nature.
With spring just around the corner, this is a perfect time to reconnect with the wonderful music of Ernest MacMillan, Lili Boulanger, Jessie Montgomery, Marcus Goddard, as well as Antonín Dvořák’s sublime Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major.
About Garron Stuart:
Garron was first introduced to the cello at the age of 9. He took his early years of cello lessons from his sister’s violin teacher who was also a cello player. His parents rented his first quarter size cello from a music store in Creston. It was a trial that soon became a rent-to- own and after a year, he had owned his first cello and has been playing the instrument to this day.
Learning to play the cello in a rural setting has its setbacks with lack of resources for in-person professional instruction and the lack of chamber music opportunities. Garron learnt from several cello instructors including Alain Courmont, Patrick Heatherley and currently takes zoom lessons from Jeff Faragher.
After graduating from high school, Garron plans to pursue music and hopes to perform, entertain as well as provide music education to the community.
In his spare time, Garron loves to speed skate, hang out with his 3 other siblings, and participate in the music program in Mount Baker High School.
