About the Show:

Student Piano Concerto – Piece TBD

Three student pianists

James Hill, Ukelele & Anne Janelle, Cello - The Midnight Clear Suite

A Cranbrook traditional returns! Our Student Concerto features three young pianists making their debut with orchestra, saluting the next generation of Kootenay musical talent. SOTK is proud to showcase our exceptional local talent! We also bring you a concert in honour of the festive season with a unique twist. Favourite carols and holiday songs will be brought to new life with vocals, cello and ukulele by James Hill and Anne Janelle, alongside our symphony musicians. James and Anne are award wining musicians who have performed across Canada and internationally.

In short, a night out with James Hill & Anne Janelle is “the perfect evening of tunes, stories and musical virtuosity.

(Wellington Dominion-Post).

We are excited to welcome the East Coast duo James Hill and Anne Janelle for their celtic-infused program of Christmas favourites. Opening with Anne's stirring re-imagining of "Joy to the World" and closing with James' intimate re-interpretation of "Silent Night," their music traces a long arc through orchestral, traditional and contemporary sound worlds. The Midnight Clear crackles with quiet intensity, rich musical textures and scintillating vocal harmonies.James plays the ukulele and Anne plays cello. A unique combination backed by your Symphony of the Kootenays.

SOTK also welcomes the Student Concerto with Grace Vandermolen, Dallevin Lapaire, and Jonathan Talbot playing Mozart.  We encourage you to get your tickets early as our Christmas concerts always sellout
