BEHIND THE SCENES AT CABARET

The cast of Cabaret have been very busy, rehearsing, learning songs and dances, working on character development and building a beautiful show, which opens this New Years Eve at Key City Theatre, and runs January 13, 14, 15, 19, 20 & 21.

Putting together a big musical takes months of preparation. Auditions happened in May. Scripts were distributed and the cast had all summer to start learning their lines, so that when rehearsals began in September, they were ready to hit the ground running.

We rehearse 3 times a week from September to December. It is quite a time commitment. Why would anyone decide to take on such a big project, you might ask? A few cast members chimed in….

“It’s been great working with old friends and making new ones. Coming together as a team to make something bigger than any individual is always rewarding.”

— Matt "EmCee" Van Boeyen

“Apparently, 90% of people have gotten chills while listening to music or watching a play. Now imagine getting to feel that every week while contributing to something that allows the whole community to experience that same feeling together - and making lifelong friends along the way. What a magnificent way to spend my time!”

— Shannon "Fraulein Schneider" Edmonstone

“Tradition
Tradition. Right, Tevye?”

— Bob "Max" McCue

“The sense of community and the connections made with others with similar interests in the arts make the hard work not feel like work. I love every moment of the time I spend rehearsing for them ”

— Amanda "Helga" Casey
